Resilience

I cry myself to sleep last night,
my tear-soaked pillow screams, I’m tired of this fight,
Unending tortures, unceasing horrors that words fail to describe,
emotionally, mentally and physically, there is no place to hide.

On days when the sun is too hard to see,
I ask this question, of all the people in this world, why me?
My dripping heart agonizes for peace,
Sighing…after every challenge comes an ease.

With courage and strength, I rise and do my best,
I never give up hope, I must not fail this test,
Aiming for new heights I know I must win this fight,
Better days are coming, the darkness will turn into light.

Nothing in life is ever easy, I tumble before I rise,
I maintain my composure, keep my eyes on the prize,
So when the weight of the world tries to pull me down,
I will stay resilient, pray, smile and wear my crown.

My Prayer Life

I cannot live off bread alone,
If heaven will one day be my home.
My prayer needs to be constant,
I must pull myself away from what is stagnant.

Prayer must change me to a level most profound,
Soaring higher each day, with feet firmly on the ground.
Praying for the burning passion to strive for perfection,
Having my eyes on Christ, to point me in the right direction.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
