God does not promise to remove suffering from our lives, but He does promise His presence in the midst of our suffering.
Hebrews 13:5-6 says it like this: “He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised to you.” (Genesis 28:15)
God’s promise to Jacob is God’s promise to everyone of His children in Christ. “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go …”
In fact, He promises to never leave us or forsake us (Deut 31:6,8; Heb 13:5). He promises to be with us always, to the very end of the age (Mt 28:20). No matter what we face, no matter what our struggles may be, no matter how dark it may seem to us, God is with us. Though your father and mother forsake you, the LORD will receive you (Ps 27:10). That is God’s promise.
God is always present regardless of where we are. As we are challenged by each day’s circumstances and problems; God is there. When we feel all alone; God is there. When we do not know what is happening; God is there.
Not only is God always with us but He is always watching over us. God is not just out there hanging out; He is paying attention to everything that is happening to us. When God says that He is watching over us; it means that not only is He watching; but He is also acting on our behalf.
Let us stay close to God and he will provide the strength we need to persevere. Also, during this crisis our faith has an opportunity to grow deeper and deeper. Yes, the devil is a liar, but God is faithful.
