Matthew 5:14 and 16 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
The word of God encourages us to let our light shine. We are the light and we are expected to shine hope and joy everywhere we go.
The world is full of people stumbling around in darkness. As followers of Christ we need to be the light God has called us to be. This light should be so evident in our lives causing us to stand out in this world of darkness. Our lives should be so different from those who are living in darkness that they cannot help but see the difference. Jesus commanded that we are to let our light shine before others. We are a beacon for others, pointing the way to God.
Simply having a flashlight, a lamp or a bulb does not guarantee that light will be emitted. There must be a connection to a source of power, and as believers we have that source within us. Jesus Christ is our source, and our source will never run out.
As Christians if our light is not shining before men, we are like a dead flashlight that looks good on the outside but is of no value. It doesn’t matter how good we may look on the outside, if there is no light shining forth from within, we are of no value to this dark world.
Let us make a difference in the world; the world really needs the light. We are the light. Let us shine, let us make a difference.
John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
How is your light shining? Are you allowing the light of Christ to shine through you?
As we move forward in 2020, may others see the light of Christ in us!
