I hope all of you have had a great week and are ready for the weekend!
Time has told me that now is the perfect opportunity for a blogging break and so I have decided to take a break from blogging effective July 1, 2019, for personal reasons. Not sure how long I will be gone for.🤔
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14: 27
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1:23-25
These verses warn us that we deceive ourselves when we hear the word of God without properly responding. If I look into a mirror, but then choose to ignore my unkempt reflection, the mirror has not benefited me.
The LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say” Exodus 4:11-12
On the far side of a desert, high upon the mountain, a voice called out to Moses from within a curious, fiery bush. He had been tending the sheep of his father-in-law’s flock, going about his normal day-in-day-out tasks on the day that God spoke to him from the flames. On the day that God called Moses to a fresh and fiery mission. A mission of deliverance.
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.” (Matthew 6:.6)
In order to go deeper with God we must sit quietly in His presence, talk with Him, and let Him talk with us. Those who say they can develop their relationship with God without stated times of prayer and the reading of His Word are fooling themselves. Jesus (as we saw) is our best example. He knew God’s presence better than anyone, yet He made time to get alone with Him and talk to Him in private prayer. To say that we can develop a rich relationship with God by recognizing we are always in His presence but without taking time to have a spiritual focus is as senseless as saying that we can live in a state of physical nourishment without having regular meals.
Hi there! I hope you are having a terrific day. I would like to thank Ellem63 for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Ellem63 is a wonderful blogger and I strongly encourage you to check out her work “Contemplations”. You will be glad you did. The blogging community has been wonderfully warm and supportive. It has been a delight to get to know so many wonderful people. I’m excited to write about that today.
I did it! I got baptized, I took the plunge, I got immersed!!
Praise God today 15th June mark another milestone with the 33rd anniversary of my Baptism.
I must say it was a wonderful experience for me. I was nervous, but also excited at the same time.
I never expected to feel such a nervous shake in my legs as I stood at the altar in front of so many people. I was so thankful that my family was there to support me, I did not plan to be baptized, but I accepted the invitation that was extended to me that night.
I remember that night vividly. What a night that was. Heart-leaping, spirit-soaring, joyful jubilation! That was exactly the way I felt that night! I had never felt so utterly thrilled about anything before.
To enter and stay on the narrow path is no easy matter. All who enter this narrow path gain admittance to the “WAY” which “leads unto eternal life;” but all who enter not or discontinue on the narrow path are eternally barred from God’s presence. Many will take the easy way out.
The narrow path is not difficult because it has potholes, debris, or rocks on it. It is difficult because it is narrow and filled with specific and strict directions which must be followed through. The narrow path is more difficult than most Christians realize. This path is about self-denial, temptations must be resisted on a daily basis, keeping our bodies under subjection etc.
In contrast, the broad road is comfortable and many are walking this road. It is pleasant, enjoyable, and filled with friends. The broad road looks promising and prosperous at first, but if travelled for any length of time lead only to despair, defeat and death. Proverbs 14:12 tells us there is a way which seems right to a person, but its end is the way of death. Because of man’s finite wisdom and ability, his limited understanding of the facts coupled with his sinfulness, man simply cannot direct his steps. What seems right to him results in the way of destruction and death.
Sometimes we are able to hear something in our spirit that sounds to us like an actual audible voice. All of a sudden, you just know you heard someone or something. May I encourage you to pay attention to those occasions because it is very likely God is trying to tell you something.
A few days ago I was struggling to make a decision, just before going to bed that night I decided to pray about the situation. Shortly after falling asleep I was awakened, in my spirit I heard these words, “Stay on the Path”. Throughout the night at intervals I kept hearing those words, at times the sound seemed so real as though someone else was in bed beside me. The following morning I stopped to ponder those words and was prompted to search the scriptures for verses related to those words. The Holy Spirit directed me to the verse below.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
There are two paths which lie before each of us every day. One is narrow, the other is broad. Although the broad path tends to look full of pleasure and adventure, it is a dangerous one that will surely lead to destruction in the long run. The narrow path, however, was created specifically for you and leads to eternal life.
