John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Sometimes we long for God to reveal himself to us in powerful and dramatic ways. So did Elijah; but he learned that God makes himself known to us not only with dramatic shouts but also by means of gentle whispers.
God speaks to us in a variety of different ways. Revelation of His word, witness in our spirit by the Holy Spirit, impulsive thoughts in our mind, dreams and visions. I have experienced all.
Have you ever misplaced your phone which is on vibrate and then asked someone to call it? We get really still and really quiet. We will only hear it vibrating if we listen for it. A christian led by God’s Holy Spirit is no different. We must be familiar with the sound of the still small voice.
The still small voice beckons us to pay attention. But we only hear it if we listen for it. The question is not so much about what is being said, but about our listening. Are we listening? God speaks to us more often than not, it’s just that we are not the best of listeners.
To hear God’s voice we need to focus, we need to pay attention. We cannot tune in unless we first turn off or set aside all those devices, and banish from our mind the distracting thoughts that rush in, clamoring for our attention and then attune our lives to the divine frequency.
We must all be ready to hear the “still small voice” at work in us and act on it. Doing so is exercising the Holy Spirit.
By displaying that we can be faithful in smaller matters, we will be rewarded in a BIG way. God does not give you further instruction until you have accomplished the last thing He asked you to do. I am praying that I continue to hear Him more clearly.
As always thank you for reading. Feel free to like, share, leave your thought or reblog.
Until we meet again in this space…much love and blessings.♥♥♥♥
