Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat.
The wicked thoughts we contend with from time to time are energized by the devil and empowered by all the forces of evil. The ultimate aim of the devil is to mar us and scar us; to disfigure the image of God in us; to saturate our minds with filth and dirt and moral rot; to wrap us in darkness and lock us forever in the place where there is only weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The devil aims to slay everything that is noble and decent and good in our lives. He has energized every rotten deed that has ever been committed by every person that has ever walked on the face of the earth. The devil puts evil suggestions into our minds. The devil promotes an unforgiving spirit among each other. We cannot resist the devil in our own human power. As much as possible, believers should avoid any situation that can cause them to sin – they should separate themselves from the source of the temptation.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:12-13.
The believer has authority over the unseen realm by putting on the spiritual armor that God has provided. The armor consists of spiritual realities that believers need to appropriate every day. By daily surrendering ourselves to the Lord and placing our faith in Him, we can take advantage of the spiritual realities because it is a spiritual battle in which we are fighting.
The Bible says, The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Do you know the enemy? Are you taking your stand, or just taking a nap? Have you put on the armour of God, or have you refused to join his forces?
You have a very strong Father, the Lord is a warrior and you can be a strong warrior who stands firm in faith. So be bold. Strike fear into Satan. Exodus 15:3, The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.
